  • Hurricane Irma: Massive Caribbean destruction, as storm targets Florida.
    • Hurricane Irma slammed into the Turks and Caicos Islands, weakening slightly as it barreled through the Caribbean, killing at least 11 people.
    • The hurricane was downgraded from a category 5 to a category 4, but it still packed winds as strong as 155 miles per hour.
    • The damage in the Caribbean is extensive, leaving many homeless and without power from Puerto Rico to St. Martin.
    • Looting is a “serious” problem on the Dutch part of the hurricane-hit island of St Martin, Dutch PM Mark Rutte said.
    • It is expected to hit the Florida Keys and South Florida by Saturday night.
